Britney Jean Spears is an American pop singer, dancer and actress. She is a teen idol who helped shape the emergence of teen pop in the 90s. She is one of the best-selling artists in the world.
Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981. During her childhood she followed dance, gym and singing lessons, which she won several local talent shows with. Around 1990, she flew with her mother to Atlanta to audition for The Mickey Mouse Club, but she was too young. Not much later, she made her debut at Off-Broadway in the musical Ruthless! In 1992, Spears was still admitted to The Mickey Mouse Club, which was not of long duration, because the show was canceled. During this show she met Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake, with whom she would have a relationship with.
In June 1997, Spears was asked to sing in the girl group Innosense, but her lawyer Larry Rudolph thought it would better that she would go solo. He allowed Spears to record a professional demo and sent it to several record labels. Three labels wanted her, because they were looking for more pop bands like the Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Spears is the eighth best-selling female artist in the United States with 31 million RIAA certified albums. She is also one of the best-selling artists in the world with estimated sales of 126 million albums.
Spears won her first Grammy Award in 2005 for “Best Dance Song” with the song Toxic.
Spears won her first three MTV Video Music Awards. Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Best Video of the Year in 2008 with the song Piece Of Me. Spears owns her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
