Movie Promotions Go Hi-Tech
August 4, 2004 -- Immersive Media Solutions, held a “3D Dance Party” as its central theme while simultaneously promoting the recently released blockbuster Shrek3D.
IMS, in a tie-up with the movie label’s home-video distributor in the UAE and the Grand-Hyatt Dubai’s premiere nightclub- MiX, had audiences virtually dancing with characters from Shrek.
Clips from the movie trailer and Shrek3D were sequenced live and in sync with the DJ music being played at the club. These were projected on plasma screens and a video projection wall in the premises.
Interaction came with a camera picking up the audiences and placing them “in the scene” with the characters superimposed over.
Club patrons were treated to characters from the movie dancing to popular R&B song tracks, real-time in full 3D. Special disposable 3d glasses were given to club patrons on arrival for viewing the 3d action on-screen.
This allowed for direct interactive brand awareness in an entertaining format for the home-video release of the film.
Immersive Media via their content partnership with X3D Technologies’ (www.x3d.com) Middle-East presence, is currently porting over the movie-promotion concept to X3D’s “Glasses free” 3D displays for added impact at nightclubs and at cinema multiplexes in the region.
IMS aims to acquire similar tie-ups with Hollywood and Indian film studios, for promotions of other block buster movies, taking them into nightclubs and events in the UAE and India using X3D’s range of holographic like 3D plasma screens.
